Μια σύντομη παρουσίαση των Εκδόσεων Κλειδάριθμος

Οι Εκδόσεις Κλειδάριθμος ιδρύθηκαν το 1985 και τα πρώτα χρόνια της λειτουργίας τους δραστηριοποιήθηκαν στον χώρο της Πληροφορικής και στις τεχνικές και επιστημονικές εκδόσεις, εδραιώνοντας την παρουσία τους στον ελληνικό εκδοτικό χώρο και συμβάλλοντας αποφασιστικά στην καθιέρωση της ελληνικής ορολογίας Πληροφορικής. Οι πρώτοι τίτλοι που εκδόθηκαν αφορούσαν αποκλειστικά τους τομείς της Τεχνολογίας, της Μηχανολογίας, της Ηλεκτρονικής και της Πληροφορικής, αλλά από τη δεκαετία του 1990 άρχισαν να επεκτείνονται και στους τομείς των οικονομικών επιστημών και της διοίκησης επιχειρήσεων, καθώς και στον χώρο της προσωπικής βελτίωσης και ανάπτυξης.

Εδώ και περισσότερα από 20 έτη οι Εκδόσεις Κλειδάριθμος συνεργάζονται με τους μεγαλύτερους εκδοτικούς οίκους του εξωτερικού, όπως είναι για παράδειγμα οι Microsoft Press, Pearson, McGraw Hill, Wiley, Elsevier, Penguin Books, Harper Collins, DK, Random House, Simon & Schuster, Hachette, και άλλοι. Από τις αρχές της δεκαετίας του 1990 έχουν εκδώσει πολυάριθμους αξιόλογους επιστημονικούς τίτλους –οι περισσότεροι από τους οποίους χρησιμοποιούνται ως ακαδημαϊκά συγγράμματα στις σημαντικότερες πανεπιστημιακές σχολές της Ελλάδας– καθώς και επιστημονικά περιοδικά στην ελληνική και την αγγλική γλώσσα. Αξίζει να αναφερθεί πως, στην έκθεση βιβλίου της Φρανκφούρτης του 2004, οι Εκδόσεις Κλειδάριθμος βραβεύτηκαν από τη Microsoft με τον τίτλο (Worldwide) Publisher of the Year.

Τα τελευταία χρόνια, οι Εκδόσεις Κλειδάριθμος επεκτείνουν διαρκώς τη δραστηριότητά τους και σε νέους τομείς –όπως η ελληνική και ξένη λογοτεχνία (με την έκδοση πολλών δεκάδων τίτλων από το 2011), η ιστορία, η εκλαϊκευμένη επιστήμη, η ψυχολογία, η οικονομική επιτυχία, η υγεία, οι εναλλακτικές θεραπείες, το παιδικό εκπαιδευτικό βιβλίο, και άλλοι– διατηρώντας πάντα τα υψηλότατα επίπεδα ποιότητας στη μετάφραση και την παραγωγή των βιβλίων τα οποία τους έχουν δώσει μια ξεχωριστή θέση στον χώρο των ελληνικών εκδόσεων.

KLIDARITHMOS PUBLICATIONS – COMPANY PROFILE

Klidarithmos Publications is a long-established publishing house with 30 years of operating in the academic and general non-fiction field (Computer, Engineering, History, Science, Economic, Business, Life-style, Mind & Body, Self-help etc) and lately it has been dynamically expanding in the fiction field, too (both commercial and up-market).

History

Klidarithmos Publications was established in 1985. Initially it was dedicated to computer, engineering and technical publications and became immediately very successful into the Greek publishing market.

In the early ’90s Klidarithmos also started publishing Economic and Business books and later on expanded its activities in the field of Personal Development. Klidarithmos has worked with foremost foreign publishing houses like Microsoft Press, Pearson, McGraw Hill, Wiley, Elsevier, Cengage, Springer etc. In the new millennium Klidarithmos continued its successful publications in the Engineering and Business Books Series, introducing prestigious titles for the academic market and publishing scientific journals. At the same time, it expanded its publications in the fields of History, Popular Science, Life-Style, Mind, Body and Spirit, etc.

Klidarithmos was the first publisher who published computer books in Greek and is the founder of the Greek computer terminology. In 2004 Klidarithmos was awarded the title of (Worldwide) Publisher of the Year” by Microsoft Corporation for the quality and variety of its computer books and for its high sales performance into the market.

Among the famous authors included in its list of translated titles are Bill Gates, Peter Drucker, Spencer Johnson (Who Moved My Cheese), Ken Blachard, Stephen Covey, Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad series), Philip Kotler, Robert Maxwell, Dale Carnegie, Gary Chapman (The 5 Languages of Love), Marie Kondo (The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying), Ian Kershaw, Angela Duckworth (GRIT: The Power of Passion and Perserverance), Ryan Holiday (The Obstacle is the Way), Malcolm Gladwell and many more. We are also the exclusive publishers of Pierre Dukan’s Diet Books in Greece.

In fiction, our rapidly expanding list has so far included The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, which has been on the NYT best seller list for more than one year now, modern classics like James Ellroy (backlist as well as his new one, Perfidia) and Carlos Fuentes (backlist and post-mortem work), the international best seller Little Paris Book Shop by Nina George, Eleanor & Park, the YA best seller by Rainbow Rowell, Silent Scream by Angela Marsons, one of the most successful books of 2015, In A Dark, Dark Wood, a Sunday Times, New York Times and LA Times best seller by new author Ruth Ware, as well as her next novel The Woman in Cabin 10, Denmark’s No 1 author Sara Blaedel (“queen of crime” in Denmark), German best-selling author Nele Neuhaus (7 millions copies sold in Germany), Ann Cleeves’s very successful crime series and many more.

In all of these different categories of books, our publications are among the bestselling ones, acclaimed for the quality of both the edition and the translation, a very important factor for publications of foreign books (80% of our books are translated from foreign languages).

Currently

Klidarithmos publishes about 110-130 new fiction titles per year.

Currently in the publishing house work about 25 full-time employees, and twice as many external part-time employees.

Although currently Greek Economy is facing a major crisis, Klidarithmos is one of the healthiest publishing companies in Greece, with no debts and with strong profits, well-known for its reliability in all its agreements and transactions.

Vision

Even though Klidarithmos has a history in non-fiction titles, the agencies and the publishing houses have respected the company’s credibility and reinforced its investment by trusting to our hands some of the most renowned authors both in commercial and literary fiction. Our aim is to retain a controlled number of publications in literature each year so that we will have the chance to properly promote them and stress market’s attention. We do not wish our titles to have a short-period life duration but instead become everlasting and this is achieved by giving them the “air” to breathe in the market.  At the same time, the company is able to keep quality of production high by carefully selecting its translators and producing the books in high quality paper and cover following a strong marketing and promotion policy.

Since November 2017, Mrs. Asimina Giannopoulou joined Klidarithmos team as Editor-In-Chief, sharing her experience in literary fiction having worked as a Rights Manager in Metaichmio Publications for ten years. The publishing house’s list of esteemed authors is now enriched with Le Clezio, another Nobel laureate and also a great list of titles. Very recently the company is expanding also in the field of children’s books with a limited number of picture books highlighting children’s emotion through remarkable illustrations while building a boutique series of classic authors aimed to be translated for the first time in Greek by the most skillful translators in Greece.
